~The Ancient Art Of Burning Sage ~
Burning Sage is one of the oldest and purest methods of cleansing a person, group of people or space.
The Latin for sage, ‘Salvia,’ stems from the word ‘to heal.’ The other qualities of sage when burned, such as giving wisdom, clarity and increasing spiritual awareness, are also indicated in the name. It’s no accident that we refer to wise people as "Sages".
The benefits of burning sage can be harnessed very simply by burning sage in your home, office or any other place in need of cleansing.
Sage burning cleansing rituals can be as elaborate or as simple as you want them to be, but it’s of the highest importance that your intention be clear before you begin. If you are burning sage to purify a space, or a person (even yourself) then this intention must be clearly in your mind before you the light the sage, and while blowing the smoke around a home, or through a space.
The best sage to use for such purposes is White Sage!
My Magical Sage Wands are packed very densely and will last a long time if provided they are burned and extinguished properly!
How To Best Utilize Your Magical Sage Wands;
Light the end of your wand, and after it has ignited, blow out the flame directing the smoke away from your body. You may wish to use an Abalone Shell or some other beautiful clay bowl or other special container
of your choice to catch the ash, or serve as a resting place for the smoldering Sage Wand. You may wish to use a fan or feather to direct the smoke. (Personally I like to hold my wand up in front of the fan to get it burning really good and HOT!)
You can direct the smoke around your own body or that of another person, or in your space of ceremony to purify the energy that is present.
The smoke may also be used as an invocation honoring the recipient of your choice; The Father/Mother, Gaia etc.
To extinguish your Sage Wand, make certain to smother the end of your wand in sand and examine closely to make certain the Wand has in fact been completely extinguished. Otherwise it WILL continue to burn and you will waste your valuable Magical Sage Wand!
